Thank You

Serving on the Council has been the honor of my lifetime. I am deeply grateful to my colleagues, our dedicated Council staff, advocates, and-most importantly- the residents in all eight wards who placed their trust in me to serve and who pushed us to meet the moment with urgency and purpose.

I came to office, viewing my work through the prism of my experience growing up in D.C. as a kid from Stronghold, shaped by a working class family and blue collar community that instilled in me the dignity of work-whether it was selling ice cream at the National Zoo or delivering mail across our city-and by a belief that government should fight for people and deliver results they can feel in their daily lives.

Together, we built a legislative record grounded in that promise-expanding economic security and opportunity, strengthening public safety and justice, protecting civil rights, and investing hundreds of millions of dollars to preserve and create affordable housing-while modernizing how the District does business and delivers for residents.

The work is not finished. The next chapter will allow me to continue to fight and deliver on the tremendous progress we have made together, with an even sharper focus on greater affordability, economic security and opportunity, community health and safety, and real long-term solutions to the pressing challenges facing our city.

To the residents across all eight wards of our city: thank you for the privilege of serving you. I leave this office proud of what we accomplished together and steadfast in my commitment to continue serving all of the people of Washington, D.C. in the work ahead.

With sincere appreciation,
